Barrie Girls

Merchant City Festival / 26-28 July 2013 / The Briggait

Barrie Girls is an exhibition of poster works and texts, created by graphic designers Sophie Dyer and Maeve Redmond in collaboration with artist Fiona Jardine.

Barrie Girls takes its inspiration from a set of historical ‘Look Book’ photographs loaned from the archive of Barrie Knitwear. Garment by garment, two unknown women model the latest season of Barrie’s knitwear collection against a series of undefined backdrops within the factory and its grounds.

By reexamining and expanding potential narratives for the photographs, Dyer, Redmond and Jardine combine the collection with new graphic poster and written works that offer a new context for the Barrie Girls at a point where visual art, graphic design, history and fiction become interwoven.

A series of limited edition posters (£15 each) and a booklet of texts by Fiona Jardine (£4 each ) are for sale. Please contact info@wearepanel.co.uk for ordering information or you can buy individual posters online:
